G R A D I N G

You will be graded according to 4 Math Standards/Expectations (each counting equally): 

• Mathematical Concepts --  this includes number & operations, geometry & measurement, functions & algebra and statistics & probability
• Skills --  includes correctly executing computations in all areas
• Problem Solving & Mathematical Reasoning --  this includes Problems of the Week
• Mathematical Communication --  this includes written and oral responses on tests, quizzes and Problems of the Week.

PARENT/Teacher COMMUNICATION!!

Some students are starting the year off very well while others are not.  Either way, I would like to keep parents informed.  If you feel you are not getting enough information feel free to contact me for an update.  My email is MsPekrul@aol.com.  I haven't  been able to be access my AOL account from school so an alternate email is PekrulNicola@coventryschools.net.   Sorry for this inconvenience.

If your child receives a failing grade on a quiz, a parent signature is required the NEXT day so I know that you are informed of your child's progress before it is too late.  If there is no signature the next day then an after school detention will be given.  If a student does not show up to an after school detention, then that student will be written up and further consequences will follow.  I do not want it to ever go this far so your child needs to know that communication between  home and school is required and that as they get older and become more responsible they need to be more involved in this. 

EVERY TEST is required to get signed no matter the grade.

If a POW is not turned in on or before the exact due date, it is a 0.  Some will be done in class this year.  If I have your email address I will try to inform you as soon as possible if your child has missed a POW.  Feel free to email me periodically to check to see work completion.

I am hoping that this will help you feel more informed, sooner rather than later, when work is poor or incomplete.

Homework posted on this site is subject to change at any time (due to schedule changes or progress in class).  The agenda is the first way to check homework and due dates.

Here are some things to do when there is "NONE" for homework (there is always SOMETHING to be done...)

Make-up/Re-takes for failed QUIZZES is Monday 9/29 and Thursday 10/2 after school.  Take advantage of this opportunity!!
