Social Studies

Welcome to Ms. Chauvette's Social Studies Page. For the next two years we will be focusing on ancient worlds. This year we will be discussing Geography, Early Humans, Ancient Egypt and Ancient China. Students will focus on the existing statement: We must learn about the past to understand the present. We will continue to connect the past to the present with each ancient world unit. We will continue using the history alive series, as well as other supplemental resources. This webpage is designed to keep families informed on upcoming assignments this year. Please check back weekly for updates on class assignments.

Recently the students have participated in a tug-of-war activity which demonstrated different elements of the Revolutionary War. We are now beginning a writing assignment which the students are choosing three different elements and explaining how they were important to the outcome of the war. This wrtiting assignment will be done in class, however, students who do not take full advantage of the class period will be asked to catch up for homework.
