 ON SPECIAL EDUCATION (LAC)

This Advisory Committee is designed to run as a pro-active collaborative partnership between parents of children with Special Needs, Students, Special Education teachers/staff, General Education teachers, Administrators and other community members who are committed to enhancing the quality of education for children with Special Needs within the district, which will ultimately benefit all children within the district.

The LAC formally meets (4) times per year. We will be meeting on:

October 10, 2007, January 9, 2008, March 12, 2008, and May 14, 2008

 from 6:30-8:30pm at Coventry’s Administration Bldg 1675 Flat River Rd. This year the LAC will also sponsor (3) parent support groups that will be held in November of 2007, February of 2008, and April of 2008.  Specific dates will be posted on our Special Education Advisory Committee link at www. coventryschools.net.  All meetings are open to the public and are advertised in local papers.

We welcome your participation at our meetings and hope that you will consider joining us in our effort to improve the quality of education for all children in the district.  In addition to the impact that we can have for our children’s education, the committee is a great way to network with other parents in the community and to learn about special education issues and resources.

By completing and returning this membership form you will become a formal member of the Coventry LAC.  This will allow you to vote on issues during the meetings.  Formal membership requires your attendance at meetings. There is no monetary fee for your membership we are most interested in your participation.
